American Construction Metals said Monday that it will locate a new manufacturing and distribution plant in Shawnee.
The Wisconsin-based company said the facility will begin with 15 employees, though that number is expected to grow to 100 during the next five years. ACM is leasing 120,000 square feet of Building 3 in the WestLink Business Center, near Kansas Highway 7 and 43rd Street. Whitney Kerr Jr. and Rob Holland of Cushman & Wakefield led the real estate team for the project.
The Shawnee plant will be ACM’s fifth. It will produce steel and aluminum exterior building products, including roofing accessories, gutter and rainware accessories, trim coil, and siding and soffit accessories. In a release, the company said the Shawnee plant will help improve service to customers in Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri.
ACM is a leading manufacturer of exterior metal building products, with a catalog of more than 32,000 offerings. It is a unit of ABC Supply Co. Inc.
Shawnee officials lauded ACM’s announcement, as well as the continuing success of the WestLink Business Center.
The $50 million project ultimately will have room for 1.1 million square feet of space. Among its tenants are Mile Hi Specialty Foods, Airtex Inc., Amazon, Missouri Wildlife Products and NWC of Kansas LLC.
